NEWCOMER BILLY COULTER RECEIVES MULTIPLE WAMMIE NOMINATIONS

Metropolitan-area native Billy Coulter garnered four Washington Area Music (Wammie) Award nominations yesterday. This news comes just one year after the release of his self-titled CD and extensive performing at local clubs and festivals. Last year, Coulter received a nomination for Best New Artist.

The 12-song CD, produced by Steve Thoma (Fleetwood Mac, Glenn Frey) and multiple-Wammie winner Marco Delmar, was nominated for both Best Debut Recording and Roots Rock Recording of the Year. Coulter is also nominated for Best Vocalist and Duo/Group in the Roots Rock category.

On Tuesday, January 11 at 8 p.m., Coulter will compete in the Semifinals for the SXSW Texas Road Trip contest at the Silver Spring Austin Grill. The winner will perform during the South-by-Southwest festival in Austin, TX. The Austin Grill is located at 919 Ellsworth Dr., in downtown Silver Spring, MD.

About The Band: Local rock stalwarts Doug Tull, former drummer for Tommy Keene and Razz, and bassist Barry Warsaw from Cravin' Dogs make up the rhythm section. Lead guitarist Tommy Derr also performs with singer/rhythm guitarist Coulter as an acoustic act.
